SnapBiteAI ("we", "us", or "our") is committed to transparency about how your data is handled. This policy covers our iOS application.

🔒 Core Principle

Your data stays on your device. We do not operate any servers. Your meal logs, photos, and health data are stored locally using Apple's SwiftData framework and are never uploaded to us.

1. Data Stored on Your Device

The following data is stored exclusively on your iPhone:

Meal logs (food names, portions, calories, protein, carbs, fat)
Food photos (compressed JPEG, stored in local database)
User profile (name, weight goals, daily targets)
Subscription status & credit balance (via Apple StoreKit)
App preferences (language, units, reminders) via UserDefaults

2. Data Sent to AI Providers for Food Recognition

When you photograph a meal, the image is temporarily sent to an AI service to identify food and estimate nutrition. We do not store your photos on any server.

🥇 Primary — 智谱 AI (Zhipu GLM-4V-Flash)

Receives your food photo for recognition. Free tier, optimized for Chinese & global cuisine.

🥈 Fallback — Google Gemini (2.0 Flash)

Receives your food photo only if 智谱 is unavailable.

Photos are sent directly from your device to the AI provider's API and discarded immediately after processing. These providers process data per their own policies:

Zhipu: open.bigmodel.cn/privacy
Google: policies.google.com/privacy

3. AI Insights (Text Only)

Weekly/monthly nutrition insights are generated by sending your meal text data only (food names + nutrition numbers, no photos) to an AI service:

Receives aggregated meal summaries to generate personalized insights and tips.

4. Apple HealthKit

With your permission, SnapBiteAI integrates with Apple Health:

Writes: Calories, protein, carbs, fat for each logged meal
Reads: Body weight (optional, for trend charts)

All Health data remains in Apple Health under your control. Revoke anytime in Settings → Privacy & Security → Health.

5. Camera & Photo Library

Camera access is used to photograph meals. Photo library access lets you select existing images. We never access, upload, or store photos beyond the single image you choose to analyze.

6. Payments

All purchases (subscriptions, credit packs, lifetime) are processed by Apple StoreKit. We never see or store your payment details.

7. What We Do NOT Collect

❌ Name, email, phone number, or any personal identity
❌ Location or GPS data
❌ Device advertising identifiers (IDFA)
❌ Third-party analytics or tracking SDKs
❌ Advertising networks
❌ Contact list or social profiles

8. Children

SnapBiteAI does not knowingly collect data from children under 13. No account registration or personal information is required.

9. Data Retention & Deletion

All data is stored locally on your device
Delete the app → all data is permanently removed
We have no backup of your data because we never receive it

10. Your Rights

Delete the app to remove all local data
Revoke camera/photo/Health permissions in iOS Settings anytime
Manage or cancel subscriptions via Apple ID → Subscriptions
Export your data by contacting us below

11. Changes

We may update this policy occasionally. Changes will be reflected here with a new date. Continued use after updates means you accept the changes.
